Capturing the Story Behind the Celebration - A little of my story: When I decided to become a nurse and was accepted into nursing school, it was a challenging time to enter the profession. The market was saturated, and nursing school itself was demanding—there were many days when I considered giving up. Ultimately, I chose not to let the job market keep me from pursuing my dream. Today, photography is also a highly competitive field, with photographers offering a wide range of prices, experience levels, and specialties. My own journey into photography grew from a desire to preserve time, revisit meaningful moments, and help mothers and grandmothers tell their families’ stories. With a degree in journalism, I bring a storytelling perspective that gives each image a voice. I serve people like me who treasure the days, sounds, scents, music, and personalities that make their memories unique.
You can visit a department store studio for headshots, family portraits, or a sweet photograph of your nine-month-old, then display those images at home as reminders of moments you cherish. My goal is to create a keepsake that unfolds page by page and tells the story behind each memory. These are the stories of our lives, and they are the moments I feel honored to preserve. For people who love their lives, value the journeys they have overcome, and want to remember them with gratitude, each session is thoughtfully designed to become a one-of-a-kind, meaningful keepsake. A Sweet Sixteen story session is one of those milestone moments where storytelling becomes especially important. It represents the transition between childhood and young adulthood, filled with excitement, confidence, family traditions, and dreams for the future. As the family makes plans to celebrate your journey into adulthood, they are reliving the little pink blankets, first steps, first dance shoes and goodnight kisses.
More Than a Party
A Sweet Sixteen event is more than a party. It is a milestone filled with anticipation, excitement, family connections, and unforgettable memories. As photographers, we look beyond posed portraits to capture genuine moments: a proud parent’s smile, laughter between friends, heartfelt speeches, and the anticipation before a grand entrance. These authentic interactions help tell the complete story of the celebration. Using creative lighting, thoughtful composition, and unique perspectives, we transform fleeting moments into lasting memories that reflect the personality and spirit of the day.
These seemingly small details are often the most meaningful pieces of the story. The letter of mama to the young lady, the letter to mama and Papa. A poem, a girlhood memory brings life to a simple photograph. Years from now, these photographs will be more than images from a party. They will be reminders of a special moment in a young woman's life, bringing back the emotions, relationships, and memories that made the celebration meaningful. That is the true art of storytelling through photography. It is not simply about taking pictures. It is about preserving moments that can be revived for generations. Reflections, foreground elements, creative framing, all help guide the viewer's attention to the emotions that matter most. My camera is as good as my pen, capturing the best moments that blend into the story.
